People can help you in many ways throughout life, but there are two things nobody can give you: curiosity and drive. They must be self-supplied.

If you are not interested and curious, all the information in the world can be at your fingertips, but it will be relatively useless. If you are not motivated and driven, whatever connections or opportunities are available to you will be rendered inert.

Now, you won’t feel curious and driven about every area of life, and that’s fine. But it really pays to find something that lights you up. This is one of the primary quests of life: to find the thing that ignites your curiosity and drive.

There are many recipes for success. There is no single way to win. But nearly all recipes include two ingredients: curiosity and drive.

Consulting and Mentoring

I am available for consulting! This includes being a startup advisor, helping you to optimize your business, discover how (or if) artificial intelligence could be saving you money, or identify and create custom software solutions. I have been a benefactor of mentoring and am happy to pay it forward, particularly to those that show curiosity and drive.

Optimize Your business

Your business could be more efficient, allowing you to focus on the work that inspired you to begin with. The operations of your company are the foundation upon which it is built. During a growth phase, scalability is critical to continued success. Conversely, chaotic external factors (ex: black swan events like the COVID-19 pandemic) highlight the necessity for being dynamic and responsive. What these both have in common is that underlying “cracks in the foundation” are exposed and their impact amplified. As with anything in life, it is dangerous for any of us to assume that we are doing everything right.

How do I help? I combine the value of my “outsider’s opinion” with my passion for solving complex problems through the application of technology and use this to generate proposed solutions to ongoing and upcoming challenges. To do this, I learn about how your business runs, understand the infrastructure, and dig in on those nuanced pain points that are specific to your industry, software tools, or combination of conditions. Armed with this information, I design solutions and transition plans to allow your company to scale and to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment. Solutions address opportunities with respect to technology, automation, strategy, and more.

Custom Software Solutions

I am a software engineer by trade with experience with designing software solutions from scratch. Additionally, I have experience with integrating disparate systems, extract, transform, and loading data into coherent, intuitive solutions for users. Most of this experience has been in the context of software defined radios (SDRs), but I enjoy addressing a wide range of challenges that can be solved with software.

Mentoring

Mentorship is more of a two-way street than most people realize. I would enjoy helping you step back and take an analytical approach to identifying a “highest probability path to success” toward getting you where you want to be. I have participated in the VetsInTech mentoring community for years, but veterans aren’t the only ones who benefit from mentorship. Some areas where I may be able to help: being a loving and impactful dad, making practical and cost-effective decisions regarding college or certifications, building products, navigating partnerships, and more! No one has all the answers and I don’t take a “prescriptive” approach, but do love to help people identify and make progress toward their goals.
